Gear

Amps in the studio You could be playing on one of these amps!

One of the many advantages of recording at Brown & Brown Recording Studios is the "always growing" collection of gear.

We'll admit it: we've been collecting this stuff for over thirty years with no signs of slowing down. From tube amps to vintage Neumann microphones, Brown & Brown Recording Studios has the gear to make you sound your best.

If you're a guitarist, depending on the day, you'll find a collection of guitar amps including Fender: '65 Vibrolux, '68 Princeton Reverb, '65 reissue Twin, '59 reissue Bassman, '68 Bassman 10. Early '60 Kustom 100 "Plush", Marshall JCM 800 and 900's, Danelectro D10, Ampeg G12, late "30's/early Kalamazoo amp (no model #, no serial #), '85 Mesa Boogie Studio, '60's LectroLabs 402 and more.

For the Keyboardist: A completely restored classic 1956 Hammond RT3/C3, with two Leslie 147's, Fender Rhodes Suitcase 73 (with original 32 ohm speakers), Wurlitzer 206 electric piano. In the classic funk filled department: Farfisa Pianorgan, Ensoniq Mirage, Yamaha DX7, Roland S50, two accordions.

For the Drummers: 1981 5-piece Yamaha birch kit with chrome Premier snare, Zildjan cymbals, bells, shakers, maracas, tambourines, block, clavés, African "shakashaka", cabasa, more.

In addition, Brown & Brown features the following equipment:

The Intonator

The Intonator Dedicated to the professional vocal recording engineer, the Intonator is aimed at reducing tedious engineering time spent on doing vocal re-takes. Not only does it provide you with the ultimate solution to vocal pitch correction, but it offers various valuable processing tools as well, including a De-esser, and a special Adaptive Locut filter designed specially for vocal processing. Based on TC's world-renowned DARCATM-chip technology, the Intonator preserves the vocalist's personal touch by allowing vibrato, initial intonation and limited correction individually, all at 96 kHz internal processing and true 24 bit resolution. A unique "Do-not-process-anything-but-this-note" setting can be achieved via an internal custom scale feature. A Pitch Window allows you to specify when a note will be considered out of tune, whereas the Amount control limits the level of Pitch correction added to the audio. Analog Dual I/O's (ADIOSTM) enable simultaneous recording of processed and un-processed vocal signals as an additional feature.

Mackie 24/96 hard disk recorder/editor

Mackie 24/96 hard disk recorder/editor It is a combined 192 track HD recorder and non linear editing system. Clients enjoy slipping tracks, copy/paste, and computer control of their digital audio during their tracking sessions! View your wave files instantly on the screen as you record. Unlimited nonstop 24 track recording is on inexpensive removable hard drives. The cost of multi track recording media has never been lower, and plug and play convenience means access has never been faster.

Studio B: We now feature two classic RCA BA6 variable Mu tube compressors modified for stereo. These rare compressors are classic true variable tube voltage compression, with design similar to the classic Fairchild. It will warm up the coldest of musical hearts, and add a little bit of magic to any project.
